The State Department has released the June, 2022 Visa Bulletin in the employment based and family based visa categories. While the June bulletin makes it clear that there hasn’t been significant movement in terms of family based visas for 2022, there are definitely some noticeable changes in the employment based categories in both the final action date chart and the dates for filing chart.

In addition, it should be noted that the State Department has announced the winners of the DV-2023 program, which is why the June Visa Bulletin shows that every region is “Current” in an effort to maximize number usage during the remainder of the 2022 fiscal year. If you have entered into the DV lottery for 2023, you can check to see if you have been picked in the lottery through the State Department’s “DV Entrant Status Check” link.

Employment Based Changes

Starting with the final action date chart in the employment based section of the Bulletin, there has been a significant change for India EB2 visa applicants. While EB-1 remains the same in both May and June, there has been a significant advance for EB-2 applicants. In the May 2022 visa bulletin, the final action date for EB2 visa applicants from India was September, 2013. The new final action date for next month will be December 1st, 2014, which means the final action date has advanced by a year and 3 months.

In addition, there have been changes in the Other Workers category for June 2022. Specifically for applicants from Mexico and the Philippines, the final action date for June is no longer “Current” and has now changed to May 8th, 2019 for both countries. This means if you are an EB-3 applicant from one of these countries, be sure to check your priority date accordingly for next month.

For applicants who are not from countries specifically listed on the Visa Bulletin (i.e. China, Mexico, India, Philippines, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras), there is also a new final action date for June 2022. This final action date is usually ‘Current”, however for June the new final action date for all Other Workers is May 8th, 2019. Again, this represents the category for any country applicant not listed on the Bulletin.

The dates for filing chart in the employment based category is essentially unchanged from May to June 2022.
